Translational Research Unit Visit, Clinical Unit Visit, Palliative Care Fellowship:
General Information
- All documents must be sent in English or application cannot be evaluated.
- The fellowship amount will be transferred to the candidate’s bank upon receipt of bank account number and address.
- Upon completion of research project, fellows should send a detailed report to the Chair of the ESMO Fellowship and Award Committee. Reports may be published on the ESMO Web site.

Selection Process
The Fellowship and Award Committee will select the recipients based on the following criteria:
- Originality and validity of the proposed project and its relevance to the field of oncology
- Candidate’s qualifications, including: research experience, research originality and publications
Translational Research Fellowship, Clinical Research Fellowships:
General Information
- All documents must be sent in English or application cannot be evaluated.
- Candidates cannot apply for more than one fellowship with the same research project.
- The host institute cannot generally host 2 ESMO fellows at the same time. Applicants should discuss appropriate timing with potential supervisor.
- The fellowship amount will be transferred to the candidate’s bank upon receipt of bank account number and address.
- Fellows are expected to attend the Congress to receive a Fellowship award. Travel costs to the Congress are not reimbursed by ESMO.
- Upon completion of research project, fellows should send a detailed report to the Chair of the ESMO Fellowship and Award Committee. Reports may be published on the ESMO Web site.
Translational Research Fellowship second year prolongation procedure
- Candidate sends written request to ESMO 4 months prior to the end of the first year of the project including a progress report, reason for prolongation of project and a letter of support from the host institute.
- The ESMO Fellowship and Award Committee will review the request and decide upon the fellowship prolongation.
