The Translational Research Fellowships are designed to:
- Provide training in translational research in European centers with an international reputation in the field
- Improve career development through collaboration with European institutions of excellence
- Provide the necessary support to develop specific high-quality translational research projects in oncology
Amount and Duration
- 35,000€ for 1 year
- Second year prolongation, including additional 35,000€, upon request and subsequent approval
- Host institutes receive 1,000€ for administration costs
Number of Fellowships
Up to 6 Translational Research Fellowships are available per year.
Application Requirements
Candidates must:
- Be an ESMO member (or apply for membership)
- Be an oncologists with at least 1 year experience in medical, radiation, or surgical oncology
- Be under the age of 40
- Be proficient in English
The candidate’s supervisors in both the host and home institute should Full or Associate ESMO members.
Application must include:
- Completed application form
- Curriculum vitae complete with digital photograph
- Detailed description of research project proposal including timeline
- Brief statement of project goals and how the acquired techniques will be used in the home institute/country
- Name of host institute and acceptance letter from the person responsible for the project at the host facility
- Letter of recommendation from the candidate’s department head
Important:
All applications must be submitted in English; incomplete applications will not be accepted
Terms and Conditions
Insurance: ESMO Fellowship Award recipients and their dependents are not insured by ESMO either for medical expenses or for accidents that may occur during travel to and from the host institute and their place of residence, or during their stay. During the fellowship, ESMO is not liable for the actions, activities, health, or safety of the fellows or their dependents. In their own interest, award recipients are advised to ensure that they, their dependents, and the institution hosting them have the necessary insurance coverage.
Taxes: ESMO is a non-profit organization; and therefore it is the responsibility of the Fellows to pay any taxes that may be required by their home or host country with respect to the fellowship.
