ESMO 2012 ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

The deadline for ESMO 2012 abstract submission has been extended to 21 May 2012 18:00 CEST.

Whatever stage your study has reached, ESMO 2012 provides a unique European platform for you to share your findings, network with international colleagues and give your work the exposure it deserves.

The ESMO 2012 congress will host an incredible number of sessions, increasing the opportunity to have your work in the spotlight and share it with the whole medical community. We look forward to receiving your submissions.

"To meet changing requirements for studies involving many researchers, ALL ABSTRACTS ACCEPTED FOR ORAL PRESENTATION (Proffered Paper and Late-Breaking Abstracts) DURING THE ESMO 2012 CONGRESS will have the opportunity to publish an author string of up to 20 (twenty) names in the official Congress Abstract Book. This will be managed by email post-outcome notification.

All other accepted abstracts (Poster Discussion, Poster and Publication) will remain at the standard author string of maximum 10 (ten) names."

Abstract outcome notifications

Abstract outcome notification emails will be sent to first and presenting authors  mid-late July. 

Publication schedule for accepted abstracts

Abstracts accepted for presentation during the Congress will be scheduled in proffered paper, poster discussion and poster sessions. All invited and accepted abstracts will be published in the Abstract Book (online and USB only), also a supplement of Annals of Oncology.

Late-breaking abstracts

Late-breaking abstracts may be submitted for studies with new research findings for which no preliminary data are
available at the time of the abstract submission deadline.

A skeleton indicating the type of data that will be available by the late-breaking abstract deadline must be submitted online by the regular abstract deadline of 21 May 2012, 18:00 CEST (Central European Summer Time, GMT+2).

Final versions must be submitted by 13 August 2012, 23:59 CEST (Central European Summer Time, GMT + 2).

Travel grants

A restricted number of travel grants to the Congress are available, upon application, to first author (= presenter) candidates under the age of 40 who submit abstracts considered deserving of recognition. Selection will be made by the ESMO 2012 Congress Scientific Committee on a competitive basis from among the accepted abstracts.

To apply for a travel grant, the following documents must be received by ESMO on or before 21 May 2012:

  • Letter of introduction by the applicant
  • A copy of the submitted abstract (the applicant must be the first author and presenter)
  • Readable photocopy of either identity card or passport
  • Short curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages)


Documentation must be sent by E-mail (registration@esmo.org), fax (+41 91 973 1918) or post (ESMO Congress Department, Via Luigi Taddei 4, 6962-Viganello-Lugano, Switzerland).

ESMO will provide the recipients with a subsidized travel ticket, subsidized accommodation and Congress registration.

Incomplete applications will not be considered.
