New position (description)

The Department of Oncology and Hematology of the Cantonal Hospital in St.Gallen is the largest Oncology Unit in Switzerland, and the leading Swiss clinical and translational research unit in oncology. The large medical team of >30 medical oncologist have a strong focus on research. The phase 1 unit offers a unique opportunity for translational research fellows who are interested in clinical pharmacology, drug development and biomarker research (treatment individualization).

Job description

The fellow will have the opportunity to learn population modeling tools (NONMEM), work on various patient datasets of classical anticancer drugs and newer drugs, participate in phase I clinical studies and publish articles. The fellow will profit on an extensive network involving researchers in Europe participating in biomarker research: micro-RNA in lung cancer, phosphoproteomics in lung and renal-cell cancer, pharmacogenetics of fluoropyrimidines and tamoxifen. The fellow will participate in the phase I unit conferences, collaborate with research partners in drug modeling (Justin Wilkins, Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology - University of Bonn, The Netherlands Cancer Institute - Amsterdam) and in biomarker research (Technical University Zurich, University Hospital Bern, University Hospital Basel). The fellow will use modern modeling tools to integrate biomarker data on drug pharmacokinetics.

Training Experience Required

The fellow should have a thourough understanding of medical oncology, and have a special interest in clinical pharmacology and biomarker research.
