ESMO Cancer Patient Advocacy Forum

26-27 November 2007

Brussels, Belgium

The European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) is pleased to announce the ESMO Cancer Patient Advocacy Forum.

Patient organizations today hold significant influence in healthcare policy outcomes at local, regional and global level. However not all patient groups are able to take advantage of this due to lack of information or support.

Despite the differences in legislation across the globe, there are common issues faced by all patient groups in influencing healthcare policy. These include having their voice heard, gaining support for their course and receiving the opportunity to participate in legislative reforms.

This action-oriented international forum will bring together cancer patient organizations from across the world to discuss, exchange and develop effective advocacy strategies which can be used in practice. The goal of the forum is to support and educate patient groups internationally, in order to improve the quality of cancer treatment and care.

This first edition of the Forum is by invitation only.

The ESMO Cancer Patient Advocacy Forum has been made possible by unrestricted educational grants from Roche (founding sponsor), Novartis (major sponsor and travel grant provider), Amgen (supporter) and PharmaMar (supporter).
