Translational Research Unit (TRU) visits grants
The
Translational Research Unit (TRU) visits are educational events, providing
crucial practical information on how translational research is performed.
TRU
visits are held in leading European institutes and offer young oncologists 3-4
days of full immersion in cutting edge research projects.
Eligible
candidates to attend TRU visits are young oncologists submitting a grant
application to the ESMO Fellowship and Award Committee.
Requirements
- Candidates must be
- oncologists
- up to age 40
- current ESMO members (or must apply for membership)
- Application must include
- curriculum vitae
- digital photo
- letter of motivation from the candidate, mentioning the benefits
she/he would get participating in the visit
Procedure

Candidate applies for a TRU grant or, if not an
ESMO member yet, applies for ESMO membership and grant
|
|
Applications are received and checked for
completeness by the ESMO Head Office
|
|
Acceptable applications are reviewed by the ESMO
Fellowship and Award Committee
|
|
Grant recipients are chosen by the ESMO
Fellowship and Award Committee based on the curriculum vitae and the
motivations stated
|
|
The grant will be forwarded to the candidate upon
receipt of her/his bank account number
|
|
The makes her/his own
travel and accommodation arrangements
|
|
An ESMO member at the host center assumes
responsibility for the participants
|
|
The grant
recipient sends a detailed report at the end of
the TRU visit to the Chair of the ESMO Fellowship and Award Committee discussing
the benefits of the visit and how it is planned to utilize the information
acquired in the home institute, for a short summary publication in the ESMO Newsletter (maximum 1,500 words)
