ESMO Award The ESMO Award is conferred on an ESMO member who has made an outstanding contribution to the development of oncology in Europe and who recognizes the importance of promoting oncology as a specialty within the international community.

Candidates must be oncologists who have made a long-term impact in the field throughout their careers |
Nominations for candidates must include:
- Name of the candidate
- Letter of recommendation specifying which award the candidate is being nominated for, including
- a description of the candidate's major achievements with regards to the award
- an explanation of the impact of these achievements on the field of medical oncology
- The candidate's curriculum vitae (in English)
- A selection of the candidate's most important, original published articles within the realm of scientific literature
