In 2010 the European Society for Medical Oncology will celebrate 35 years of commitment to serving the oncology community. Our rich history of achievements and success provides a living testimony to the engagement of our leadership, our members and our staff to supporting ESMO in its mission to advance cancer treatment and cure.
 
The ESMO General Assembly met in September 2008 and approved a 4-year strategic plan (2009-2012) proposed by the ESMO Board of Directors. The plan provides direction for the Society to develop activities, products and services that strengthen our Society, build expertise and a sense of community, serve as platforms to disseminate and generate knowledge, continue our tradition of excellence in education and research, and assist oncology professionals in providing their patients with the high-quality care they deserve.
