Policy reform is necessary worldwide to improve severe cancer pain management & unnecessary suffering
- 21 January 2015 African Palliative Care Association Annual Report 2013-2014: Improving access to pain medication and palliative care for all in Africa
- 5 December 2014 ESMO-proposed session during the World Cancer Congess 2014: Cancer Pain Across the World: Global efforts to define and meet the challenges. Chaired by: Nathan Cherny (Israel), James Cleary (United States). Findings from the GOPI were presented by Nathan Cherny during the session.
- 2 June 2014 ESMO endorses the ' Prague Charter: Relieving suffering' set up by the European Association for Palliative Care ( EAPC), the International Association for Hospice and Palliative Care ( IAHPC), the Worldwide Palliative Care Alliance ( WPCA), Human Rights Watch ( HRW) and the Union for International Cancer Control ( UICC).
- 24 May 2014 ESMO, UICC, NCD Alliance and other endorsing partners issue palliative care statement at 67th World Health Assembly where palliative care resolution adopted. The landmark resolution (67.19) calls for an improvement in palliative care and for Member States to report back on increased access to legitimate use of pain medicines.
