Professor Taieb is a gastroenterologist specialised in GI oncology and the head of the gastroenterology and GI oncology department of the Georges Pompidou European Hospital, Paris Descartes University.
His research interests include colorectal cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma, gastric and pancreatic cancer, and the role of the immune response in cancer, and he is leading currently as PI or co-PI 9 phases II and III clinical trials in the field of GI oncology and responsible of a laboratory research team (INSERM U970 équipe 10).
He is a member of several medical societies, including different French gastroenterology and oncology cooperative groups and societies (FFCD, GERCOR, SNFGE), the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO).
Professor Taieb was Associate Editor of Abstract Gastroenterology (2000–2003), of Cancerodigest since 2004 and has been Associate Editor of Clinics and Research in Hepatology and Gastroenterology since 2010 and a regular reviewer for the Lancet Oncology, Journal of Clinical Oncology, Annals of Oncology and the European Journal of Cancer.
Prof Taieb is the author of over 65 recent publications and 41 abstracts published at recent meetings focussing on his key research areas: colorectal cancer, gastric carcinoma, pancreatic cancer, and the role of the immune response in cancer.
ESMO 2016 Congress
"Our understanding of oncogenic drivers is enabling the development of new targeted therapies for colorectal cancer. ESMO 2016 will not only explore these new options but also look at other ways to improve patient care, such as through management of side-effects."
