George Pentheroudakis, MD, PhD, born in Thessaloniki, Greece, graduated from the School of Medicine of the University of Thessaloniki in 1991 and qualified as a Specialist in Internal Medicine in 1999. He trained in Medical Oncology at the Beatson Oncology Centre, Glasgow, UK, holder of a National Training Number from 1999 until 2002.
Since 2009 Prof Pentheroudakis has been Assistant Professor of Oncology at the University of Ioannina, Greece.
He is co-Chair of the ESMO Guidelines Working Group, Coordinator of the ESMO CUP/Neuroendocrine Tumour Faculty and Chairman of the Hellenic Cooperative Oncology Group (HeCOG) Scientific Committee.
His main interests and areas of expertise lie in the fields of GI cancer, cancer of unknown primary site, cancer and pregnancy and phase I/pharmacokinetic studies of investigational agents. Prof Pentheroudakis is author of 121 papers published in peer-reviewed medical journals.
