Born in 1953, Giovanni Rosti has a degree cum laude in Medicine gained at the University of Bologna (Italy) in 1978. He specialised in Haematology at the same University in 1981 and in Oncology at the University of Padua in 1984. In 1985 he did a residency at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, Texas.

Giovanni Rosti was Assistant at the Oncology Unit, Medical Oncology Department at the Hospital of Ravenna (Italy) for 27 years, where he was also responsible for the organisation of several important programmes, among which, from 1997 to 2001, the organisation of the semi-intensive care in the high-dose chemo treatments in the allogeneic transplantation.

He is currently Chief of Oncology at Treviso Hospital.

Giovanni Rosti was Head of the High-Dose Chemotherapy programme in Ravenna, thereafter elected responsible for the EBMT/European Group for Bone and Marrow Transplantation Solid Tumors Working Party from 1995 until 2001.

Giovanni Rosti is past chairperson of the EORTC High-Dose Chemotherapy Group, President of the Italian Germ cell cancer Group (IGG) and member of the European Consensus Conference on Germ cell cancer.

He was Member of the Board of the Italian Association of Medical oncology (AIOM) from 2002 until 2006, responsible also for the fellowships programme for young oncologists.

Voluntary Consultant for Medical Oncology of Timisoara, Romania, from 1992 to 1997, Giovanni Rosti was actively involved in the training of young oncologists from Romania, and continued in the following years with young oncologists from Russia, Lebanon, Lithuania, USA as well as Italy.

Giovanni Rosti’s fields of interest are: testicular tumours and supportive care in cancer.

Chairperson of the Italian Guidelines on testicular cancer, in 2002 he worked on the preparation of the European Guidelines for the treatment of germinal tumours, updated in 2006 and in 2007 he also coordinated the AIOM Guidelines for the tumours of the testes.

Giovanni Rosti was ESMO National Representative for Italy from 2005 until 2011, thereafter member of the ESMO NR and Membership Steering Committee (2010-2013) and ESMO Ambassador.

Member of the Faculty of ESMO, ESO, ESH, EBMT at several international meetings.

Giovanni Rosti is author of more than 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals.
