Cancer Guides for Patients

Guides for Patients are designed to assist patients, their relatives and caregivers to better understand the nature of different types of cancer and evaluate the best available treatment choices.

Patient Guides by cancer type

Produced by ESMO and the non-profit organisation Anticancer Fund these guides translate complex medical information into a language understandable to patients. The medical information is based on the ESMO Clinical Practice Guidelines, which are designed to guide medical oncologists in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment in different cancer types and conditions.

All guides are available in English, Dutch, French and Spanish. Most guides are also available in Greek – translations were kindly provided by the Hellenic Group of Young Oncologists, HeGYO, on behalf of the Hellenic Society of Medical Oncology (HeSMO). Several guides are available in Italian and the breast cancer guide is also available in Croatian, Portuguese and Serbian.

Personalised Medicine Guide for Patients

Personalised medicine is the future of cancer medicine. In this guide, produced by ESMO, we provided an overview on governing principles, illustrating them through examples of personalised medicine approaches in several tumour types.
