Specialities

We care for patients with all cancers. We have a comprehensive portfolio in terms of both service and research and all modalities of treatment. We have specialist multidisciplinary teams treating and researching into all common and rare solid tumours, as well as haemato-oncological malignancies with a bone marrow transplant unit, paediatric cancers and one of the world’s largest drug development units.

Palliative and supportive care

The Royal Marsden is a unique institution, a centre of excellence which has for many years been the vanguard of cancer treatment and research. Palliative Care at the Royal Marsden is no exception to this. It has led the way with the first dedicated palliative care ward in the country and more recently with its service innovations and ground breaking research. Palliative care has long been established and welcomed in the hospital. The palliative care team continues to lead the way with innovative ways of integrating with the community and by its fast moving research programme. The Palliative Care Team now consists of both adult and paediatric palliative care services. The work of the department is constantly expanding and today sees over 1000 new patients each year.
