The Center of Haematology and Oncology is part of the St. Antonius Hospital and is affiliated to the University of Aachen. The Center was founded in 1984 and has gained national and international acceptance over the years.

Palliative and Supportive Care

The Centre of Haematology and Oncology consists of 2 wards with:

  • A large outpatient department
  • 34 inpatient beds in single or twin rooms with the possibility to host relatives

The cooperation between in and outpatient departments provides focused patient treatment strategies in collaboration with 3 regional Palliative Care networks. Psycho oncology support and pain therapy are offered. The team involved in patient care is comprised of 8 physicians:

5 consultants specialised in internal medicine and haematology/oncology

2 consultants specialised in palliative medicine

1 psycho oncologist

1 member of the nursing team trained in oncology and palliative care.

Special units, breast cancer (EBZ) and prostate cancer (PKZ), providing multidisciplinary care for patients.
