History

Hospital Clinica Benidorm is a private Hospital, level III (the highest level of specialities covered), with over 20 years of experience in the International Market and over the last 10 years of development of high quality policy (ISO 9002 in all the Central Services). The hospital focuses on researching matters through agreements with the principal Universities in Spain as well as the CNIO (National Cancer Research) in Madrid. This policy enabled us to obtain the Top 20 prize in 2008 which places us as the Best Private Hospital in Spain.

Profile

We are a level III Hospital, with the maximum number of specialities covered; we have 167 beds, 15 of which are in the Intensive Care Unit. With a total of 275 people in our team, we offer all medical and surgical specialities, with the exception of organ transplant facility and a burns unit. Through the Cardiology institute of Alicante (ICA), we rely on a specialised area for all cardiac pathologies, which are then transferred to our diagnosis area and cancer treatment unit, forming part of the Institute for diagnosis and Integral treatment of Cancer (ITIC). We invest heavily in technology, which we maintain through our contact with GE as our centre of reference for new technologies in Spain, this allows us to work with the best diagnosis instruments on the market, such as the MRI 3 teslas, digital CAT 16 slides, Service of Nuclear Medicine (two-headed Gammacamara with CAT incorporated, PET CAT 16 slides).

All of our central services belong to us and 95% of our Staff members are exclusively dedicated to the clinic, allowing us to offer higher quality to our patients and an extremely personalised service.

The public relations team which comprises of people from different nationalities, allows us to be constantly in touch with the requirements of our patients from different origins, enabling us to make their stay in this Hospital comfortable.

Specialities

All Medical and surgical specialities are available,  with the exception of a large burns unit and organ transplant unit.  Special mention should be given to the ICA and the ITIC, where we have invested all of our efforts in the last 5 years, giving us the accolade today, as the centre of reference in the Valencian Community.

Palliative and supportive care

Palliative care is addressed through the prism of continuing care. Doctors do not make a differentiation between active cancer treatment and palliative care; both situations constitute a two-way path. The doctor in charge of each patient provides care from the beginning of cancer treatment to the end of life.

Patients are attended at the doctors’ office as outpatients and cared for at home in collaboration with the Unidad de Hospitalizacion a Domicilio of the Marina Baixa Hospital and social services offered by municipalities.

Psychological care is provided in collaboration with the Asociacion Española Contra el Cancer (AECC).

There are 30 beds available for both acute and palliative care. Patients with uncontrolled symptoms, limited family support or caregiver fatigue are managed as inpatient. A team of nurses, physicians, physiotherapists, psychologists, headed by the doctor in charge, ensure the physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being of each patient and their family.
