Renata Zaucha studied medicine at the Medical University of Gdansk, from where she obtained her degree in 1987. She remained here as a junior assistant in the department of Oncology and Radiotherapy. In 1992, she went to Glasgow to complete clinical training at the Beatson Oncology Centre, followed by a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences back in Gdansk in 1994, where she also obtained a second degree in Radiation Oncology by the Polish State Board in 1996.
At the end of the 90’s, Dr Zaucha spend three years at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Centre in Seattle, USA, where she did postdoctoral research as assistant and later as associate, in the areas of Human Genetics and Autologous Bone Marrow Transplantation.
She later returned to Seattle as a visiting physician in the division for autologous bone marrow transplantation.
Dr Zaucha obtained the Polish State Board degree in Medical Oncology in 2004, and a second Ph.D., this time in Radiation and Clinical Oncology, at her home university in Gdansk where she is now working in the department of Clinical Oncology and Radiotherapy.
Several international clinical trials in the field of malignant melanoma, prostate cancer, breast cancer takes up her time, as well as her work in the interdisciplinary group on pharmacogenomics. She very much enjoys exchanging experiences and cooperating with other associations.
Renata Zaucha has 42 publications to her name, and chairs the Gdansk branch of the Polish Society of Oncology.
