Dr Iryna Kryachok studied at the Kiev State Medical Institute, Ukraine and became a GP in 1989. She then trained as a resident in haematology and obtained a first Ph.D. in haematology and blood transfusion in 1996 and a second in 2006. She was a senior research associate at the department of haematology and transplantology at the Scientific Centre of Radiation Medicine, Academy of Medical Science in Kiev up to 2008 She specialised in clinical oncology in 2008 In addition, she has spent several fellowship abroad, e.g. in the UK, Japan and Switzerland, and in 2011 Dr Kryachok benefitted from the ESMO Exchange Programme for Senior Oncologists.
Dr Kryachok has been a deputy director of the National Cancer Institute of Kiev, and she is the head of the oncology / haematology department, since 2008.
A board member of the Ukrainian Professional Association of Oncologists, she has also occupied leading positions in several working groups and committees, e.g. the Ukrainian Oncology Guideline working group which she has headed since 2009 and she is a member of the Specialized Council in Oncology and Radiology in Ukraine.
“Together we are stronger and can achieve what on one can achieve alone”, says Dr Kryachok, as she enthusiastically takes up the position as ESMO National Representative in Ukraine for 2012-2014.
