Clinical Research Fellowship in Oncology Targeted Therapy in Melanoma

Professor Richard Marais, Director of the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research is offering an outstanding opportunity for an Oncology Clinical Research Fellow to undertake a 4-year MCRC research project that is expected to lead to peer-reviewed publications and the award of a PhD.

The Clinical Fellow will undertake a research project to investigate patient response to melanoma therapies, including mechanism of resistance to targeted agents, and develop further understanding of melanoma biology to improve patient care. The Fellow will provide the bridge between the clinic and the research laboratory.

You will spend time within The Paterson Institute’s Molecular Oncology Laboratory and The Christie NHS Foundation Trust Melanoma Unit. Both sites provide state-of-the-art facilities for the development of novel therapeutic strategies in the treatment of cancer.

Eligibility:

Fellowships are available to post-registration Clinicians, up to and including Specialist Registrar grade, who wish to undertake a period of full-time training in a cancer relevant field. Successful candidates will hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) or equivalent.

Academic supervision will be guided by Professor Richard Marais, leader of the Molecular Oncology Group at the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research and clinical supervision will be provided at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust by Dr Paul Lorigan, Consultant in Melanoma.

  • Salary in the range of £31,301-£47,175(dependent upon experience)
  • 4-year fixed term contract
