December 2015 – Image of the Month
61 year-old man with diagnosis of acral lentiginous melanoma in the right hand index pT4bN1M0 (Stage IIIB) was treated with surgery. We proposed adjuvant treatment with interferon therapy and medical follow up, but the patient refused both. Two years later, he started with neurological symptoms: diplopia, facial pain, paresthesias and numbness and weakness of the upper and lower face, bilateral sensorineural deafness, along with dysarthria, dysphagia and hoarseness of voice. On the brain MRI we observed the following findings.
