About SEOM + Mir

One of the key aims of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) over the past years has been to improve the integration and participation of young Spanish medical oncologists and oncologists in training. In 2011, the +MIR group celebrated the fifth anniversary of its first meeting (Madrid, 8th of February 2006). Since then, +MIR group has become a very well established and active committee within the SEOM. Under the supervision of Dr. César A. Rodríguez (2006-2009) and Dr. Agustí Barnadas (since 2009), +MIR group has promoted, created and collaborated in numerous initiatives which have improved and are improving the education, learning, participation and networking of Spanish young oncologists and trainees.

YOC image grey

ESMO Young Oncologists Committee (YOC) was created in 2001 as a dedicated committee of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO). The YOC provides opportunities to strengthen YO’s skills, knowledge and expertise, while providing a platform for networking with other medical oncologists and oncology professionals.   An important part of the educational offer of the YOC is the creation of the YO Track at the ESMO Annual Congress which was launched at the 2002 ESMO Congress. The YO Track has since become a genuine classic in every ESMO Congress, with popular activities such as the YO Masterclass, Breakfast Sessions and Forum and also the Vesalius cocktail launched in 2008.  The YOC are continually establishing new projects, such as the Image of the Month and the Journal Club, preceptorship meetings and travel grant opportunities. The YOC has a Facebook group which invites YO’s worldwide to network and share ideas.
