Training Experience Required

The fellow needs to have at least one year of clinical experience in oncology. For a translational research fellow documented lab experience is needed. The main focus of the National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy is cancer immune therapy so this subject should be of special interest to the fellow.

General Description

Herlev Hospital is located approx. 15 km outside Copenhagen. The Department of Oncology is one of five national cancer centers and the largest department at the hospital with almost 5000 new cancer patients every year.

Expertise

The National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy (CCIT-DK) is tightly associated with the Department of Oncology. The main focus of CCIT-DK is translation of immunotherapeutic strategies into clinical testing. Basic and preclinical research is introduced in the clinic through establishment of phase I/II trials every year. CCIT-DK has approx. 70 employees including PhD students and post docs with a broad background forming a very multidisciplinary team.

Facilities

We have a well equipped radiotherapy section and a unit for experimental therapy. Furthermore, National Center for Cancer Immune Therapy has advanced lab facilities including a validated clean room for preparation of therapeutic cellular products and cancer vaccines.
