Locum Consultant Medical Oncologist (Lung, Colorectal, Testicular tumours and melanoma)

Applications are welcome for two full time locum consultant posts.

The successful applicants will be accredited Medical Oncologists joining a team of nine oncologists. The post is based at Lincoln County Hospital, with outreach clinics at Boston’s Pilgrim hospital twice a week. We are a friendly and dynamic team of Specialists devoted to patient care.

The successful candidates will join well established tumour site teams, each one of them consisting of 2 or more Clinical Oncologists. The Lincolnshire cancer units is part of the NHS England Midlands and East Network and provides cancer treatment at Lincoln County Hospital (Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy) and Pilgrim Hospital in Boston (Chemotherapy), to a catchment population of 700,000. 3,500 new cancers are diagnosed annually. Both hospitals have specialised oncology wards for the management of cancer patients.

There is a young, enthusiastic and rapidly growing Research and Development Unit with a comprehensive portfolio of national and international trials available. Palliative care is provided through the St Barnabas Hospice at Lincoln, with community outreach services across the County. A Hospice at Boston is due to be completed later this year and there is a newly appointed consultant in palliative care in the process of developing referral pathways for oncological patients.

Lincoln is a beautiful and historic cathedral city with an established University. Housing remains affordable and good education is available in both the state and independent sector. The county of Lincolnshire still maintains a grammar school education system. The larger cities of Nottingham, Leicester and Sheffield are all within one hour of travel. The city is approximately 30 minutes from the main East Coast rail line.
