The latest revision of the ESMO Bylaws was approved by the 2015 ESMO General Assembly at its meeting on 18 December 2015, in Singapore.
They came in to effect on 1 January 2016.
A revision of the current Bylaws is being proposed by the Executive Board, which requires approval at the General Assembly, taking place during the ESMO Congress on Friday 7 October 2016.
The Executive Board is proposing the following additions to the Bylaws: (additions are marked in bold text)
Article 7: Executive Board
The Executive Board is the executive organ of the Society. The task of the Executive Board is to apply and execute the decisions of the General Assembly and to work with the Chief Executive on day to day matters. Thereto, the Executive Board may set up organisational rules which govern the duties and responsibilities of the members of ESMO’s management and administrative team.
7.2 President-Elect: He/she shall act for the President in the latter's absence and shall carry out such duties as may be assigned to him/her by the President. Should the President be unable to fulfill or continue his duties as President, or is incapacitated in any way, the President-elect would take over the duties of President.
7.4 Treasurer: The Treasurer shall monitor the completeness and reliability of the financial accounting of the Society, advice and assist the Executive Board on compliance matters and chair the Audit Committee.
As per our current Bylaws, any changes to the ESMO Bylaws are to be communicated to the ESMO Members three (3) months in advance of a General Assembly.
